Whether a customer can order a product depends on two separate things: the product’s own status, and the pricing group that customer is assigned to.

Layer 1: the product’s own status

Every product has an Available/Unavailable setting and an active/archived state. If a product is marked Unavailable or has been archived, it’s hidden from every customer, regardless of pricing.

Layer 2: the customer’s pricing group

Every customer needs a pricing group assigned to see or order anything. Exactly how a pricing group controls which products a customer sees, and which price applies, is covered in full in Product availability and missing prices — that page, and the rest of the Pricing guide, is the authoritative source for these rules.
