Whether a customer can order a product depends on the product’s own status and their pricing group. This page is the authoritative explanation — see How FikaTrade chooses a price for the price side of the same logic.

Layer 1: the product’s own status

If a product is marked Unavailable, or has been archived, it’s hidden from every customer, regardless of pricing.

Layer 2: the customer’s pricing group

  • Default pricing group: the customer can order any Available product that has a base price set.
  • Any other pricing group: the customer can only order products that have been explicitly added to that group. A product not added to the group is invisible to that customer, even if it’s Available and has a base price elsewhere.
A customer with no pricing group assigned at all can’t see or order anything — not even at your default pricing. If a customer reports an empty catalogue, this is the first thing to check.

Blank, missing and zero prices are three different things

These behave differently, and it’s worth being precise:

How this appears to customers

Customers only ever see products they can actually order — the same rule applies whether they’re browsing or checking out, so nothing can be added to a cart that later gets rejected as unavailable.

To change what a customer can order

  • Change the product’s own Available status to affect every customer.
  • Change a specific customer’s pricing group, or that group’s products, to affect just them — see Add products and prices to a pricing group.
