# Manage categories

> How to create categories, order them, add images, and control storefront visibility.

Categories group your products for browsing — on your own product list and on your customers' storefront.

<Note>
  **New 2026-10-07:** categories now have their own image and a storefront-visibility setting, and live on their own **Categories** screen rather than being a plain field on the product form. This page didn't exist before.
</Note>

## Before you begin

Managing categories — creating, editing, reordering, deleting, or changing an image or visibility — requires a **supplier administrator**. This is different from products themselves, which any team member can manage — see [View and manage products](/supplier-guide/products/manage-products).

## Create a category

1. Go to **Categories** and select **New category**.
2. Optionally add an **image** — this can appear on your storefront's category tiles. JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 50 MB.
3. Enter a **Name**.
4. Leave **Visibility** on to show the category to customers, or turn it off to keep it internal (see below).
5. Optionally assign products to the category right away.
6. Select **Create category**.

## Reorder categories

With the list sorted by **Order**, drag a category by its handle to a new position, or use the up/down arrows next to it. This order is what customers see when categories are presented on your storefront.

## Add, change or remove a category's image

Open the category and use the image field to upload, replace, or remove its image — the same dropzone handles all three.

## Storefront visibility

Turning visibility off for a category removes it from customer-facing category browsing, filters and tiles. It does **not** hide the products assigned to it — those products stay orderable, either shown under another visible category they also belong to, or without a category label if that was their only one.
