# Assign pricing to customers

> How to control which pricing group a customer buys at.

Every customer needs a pricing group assigned before they can order anything.

## Before you begin

Any team member can assign or change a customer's pricing group.

## Steps

1. Open the customer's record and select **Edit**.
2. Set the **Pricing group** field to the group you want this customer on. This is a single selection from all of your pricing groups.
3. Save.

There's no confirmation step or warning shown when you change this — the change applies as soon as you save.

## What happens next

The customer's catalogue and prices update immediately, based on the pricing group you've assigned — see [How FikaTrade chooses a price](/supplier-guide/pricing/how-fikatrade-chooses-a-price). If they have items already in their cart, those lines pick up the new pricing the next time they view the cart.

## If no group is assigned

Clearing the Pricing group field, or never setting one, means the customer can't see or order any products at all — not even at your default pricing. This is the single most common cause of "my customer says they have no products."
