# Create and manage delivery runs

> Group orders by delivery date and zone, assign a driver, and progress a run through to completion.

A delivery run groups the orders you're delivering on a given date and zone, so you can track them through to completion together.

## Before you begin

Creating, editing and managing delivery runs requires a **supplier administrator** account.

## Create a run

1. Go to **Delivery** and select **New run**.
2. Choose a **Delivery date** — today or later.
3. Choose a **Zone**, or leave it as **Unassigned**.
4. Optionally enter a **Driver**.
5. Select **Orders** to include. The list only offers orders that are eligible: the order's fulfilment method must be Delivery, it isn't already on another open run, and — if you chose a zone — its customer's postcode must be in that zone. Orders aren't filtered by their order status.
6. Select **Create run**.

If your chosen delivery date is a non-delivery date (see [Set up delivery zones, schedules and fees](/supplier-guide/delivery/set-up-zones-schedules-and-fees)), no orders will be offered — you'll need to choose a different date.

## Run statuses

A run has one of three statuses: **Planned**, **Out for delivery**, **Completed**. You can move a run forward or backward between Planned and Out for delivery, and forward to Completed from either — but once a run is Completed, its status can't be changed again.

## Managing orders on a run

Open a run and select **Edit** to add or remove orders, change the driver, or change the status. You can't change orders on a run that's already **Completed**.

Moving a run to **Out for delivery** automatically updates the delivery status of every order on it that doesn't already have a final outcome recorded, and copies the run's driver name onto any of those orders missing one. Moving a run back to **Planned** resets those same orders' delivery status back to **Awaiting dispatch** — orders already marked Delivered or Failed are left untouched.

Marking a run **Completed** does **not** automatically mark its orders as delivered — you still need to record each order's outcome yourself. See [Record delivery status](/supplier-guide/delivery/record-delivery-status).

If you remove an order from a run that's Out for delivery, and that order's delivery status hasn't reached a final outcome yet, its status resets to Awaiting dispatch.

## What you can't do

There's no way to delete or cancel a run once created — a run exists permanently through its lifecycle. There's also no way to remove an order from a Completed run.
