# Payment methods

> How PayTo and card payment methods are set up, and what you can manage yourself.

Your supplier sets up a payment method against your account — you don't add one yourself in FikaTrade. What you can do is authorise PayTo when asked, and manage a payment method once it exists.

## Before you begin

Any team member with access to your company's account with that supplier can view and manage payment methods — there's no separate permission level for this.

## PayTo

Your supplier creates a PayTo agreement naming your business as the payer. Once they do:

1. Your bank sends the authorisation request to your own online banking app — this happens outside FikaTrade, so there's nothing to do on the FikaTrade side to start it.
2. Open your banking app and either approve or decline the request.
3. Once you respond, the agreement's status updates in FikaTrade — go to **Settings → Payment methods** to see it.

An agreement you've authorised stays **Active** and is reused automatically for future invoices from that supplier — you don't need to reauthorise it each time.

## Card

A card is added by a member of your supplier's team on your behalf — for example, over the phone or while you're with them. You can't add a card yourself from your own login.

## What you can manage

Go to **Settings → Payment methods** to see every PayTo agreement and card set up for your account with a supplier. Open one to:

* **Set as default** — choose which method is used when your supplier collects payment.
* **Pause** / **Resume** — temporarily stop a method being used without cancelling it.
* **Cancel** — permanently stop a method being used.

Card and bank details shown here are masked — FikaTrade doesn't display full card or account numbers.

## Agreement and card statuses

| Status | Meaning |
| --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Pending | Sent to your bank; waiting for you to authorise it in your banking app. |
| Active | Authorised and in use. |
| Paused | Temporarily disabled — can be resumed. |
| Cancelled | Permanently disabled. Final. |
| Expired | No longer valid. Final. |
| Rejected | You declined it, or your bank rejected it. Final. |

## If you decline or an agreement expires

If you decline a PayTo request or it expires, it can't be reused — your supplier needs to send a new one, or set you up with a card instead. FikaTrade doesn't automatically retry an authorisation request.
